Buckwheat hulls are the outer shells of the grains that contain the seeds of the grain. For pillows and upholstery, the hulls are an excellent non-toxic, allergy-free alternative to feathers or synthetic fiber because they are strong, aromatic, and do not retain or reflect heat. 

Buckwheat is exceptionally suitable for organic products. Buckwheat plants are disease-resistant (which means they need no pesticides to grow) and are rarely polluted, except by deer, which eat unprotected fields of buckwheat.
